How to Grow
It is simplest to start carex seeds indoors before transplanting outdoors. Use small pots that are filled with a seed-starting mix. Place the seeds onto the soil and cover lightly with sand or soil. To help keep these seeds moist until germination occurs, cover the pots with clear plastic wrap. Move the seedlings to direct sunlight once they have sprouted. Transplant the seedlings into progressively larger pots as they grow. A mature plant can be transplanted outdoors to its permanent place usually within one full growing season. This grass prefers partial shade, but also does well in full sun in cooler climates.
