Ice Plant (Dorotheanthus Bellidiformis Gelato Bright Red) - Enjoy this fast-spreading, red Ice Plant ground cover. It establishes easily and quickly from Ice Plant seeds and is a free-flowering, drought-tolerant, easy-to-care-for plant that thrives in the hot, dry soil that other plants simply will not tolerate. Also known as Livingstone Daisy, this ground cover plant is blazing with bright red blooms all summer long and is great for xeriscape landcaping where water conservation is desired.
Sow Livingstone Daisy seeds indoors 6 - 8 weeks before the last frost. Or, sow Ice Plant ground cover seed outdoors after danger of frost has passed. If started indoors, transplant when seedlings are 2 inches tall and space them 12 inches apart. Red Ice Plant care includes trimming any spent blooms to tidy the appearance. An application of fertilizer during the growing season is helpful. Watch for slug or snail damage.
