How to Grow
Directly sow your Zinnia once spring has begun and the soil is already warmed. Your Zinnia should flower 5 - 6 weeks after its been sowed. It is also possible to plant your Zinnia while the weather is still chilly, if your area has a late coming warm spring. It will still grow just as well, but won't bloom until the weather is warm enough.

Zinnia (Zinnia Elegans Dahlia Flowered Meteor) - What a show stopper! These brilliant red Zinnia flowers will attract lots of attention. Grown easily from Zinnia seeds, Meteor Zinnia is a deep red color, and it grows on bushy, tall plants. The long stems and large 4 - 5 inch blooms make Meteor Zinnia elegans perfect for cutting - the more you cut, the more you get! Zinnias are outstanding in beds, borders, and containers, and they have a long bloom season, lasting until frost in the fall. Zinnia plants love sun and heat and only require moderate amounts of water. They are not particular about the type of soil, but do prefer well-drained soil. Because their biggest enemy is mildew, Zinnia flower care includes irrigation with a soaker hose or keeping the water at the roots to minimize wetting the foliage. If this isn't possible, water them early in the day, so that the leaves can dry off before nightfall.
