How To Grow African Daisy From Seed: Sow the seeds in early spring, seedlings are not winter hardy. Do not cover the seeds more than 1/16 inch and make sure to keep the seeds moist until there is germination. You will be delighted all summer long with this outstanding performer.

African Daisy care is simply deadheading to encourage continual blooming and watering at the base of the plant to keep leaves dry as they can be susceptible to fungus. A well-balanced fertilizer can be applied a couple of times during the growing season.

African Daisy (Dimorphotheca Sinuata Salmon) - The flower color is called salmon, but it also has shades of apricot. These beautiful flowers are open by day and close at night. They are spreading plants which thrive in hot, dry areas, making this a western favorite. They grow easily from flower seeds, and they are excellent as a border or ground cover. Plant this flower seed in early spring in containers if you plan on transplanting (late fall or early winter in mildest climates). How To Grow Osteospermum From Seed: Sow Osteospermum seeds indoors 8 - 10 weeks before last frost or directly outdoors after frost danger has passed. Sow the Osteospermum seeds directly on the surface and very lightly cover. Light is needed for germination. Keep the flower seed moist until germination.

If the African Daisy seeds were started indoors, the young plants should be hardened off for 2 weeks before planting outdoors. When transplanting, pinch back to encourage bushier growth. African Daisy flowers will self-sow their own flower seed for next season, and they are fairly drought tolerant. Bees and butterflies enjoy visiting African Daisy plants.
